Ventus harness: safety, comfort and style

The NOVA VENTUS is presented as an uncomplicated all‑round paraglider harness that combines high passive safety, everyday comfort and a distinctly sporty design. With its compact volume, intuitive handling and broad pilot range, it aims to be the one harness you take to the training hill, local thermals and relaxed cross‑country flights alike.

Modern all‑rounder with a safety focus

At the heart of the VENTUS concept is passive safety. NOVA uses a highly compressible foam protector that already protects the pilot on take‑off and covers the entire lumbar area. This is complemented by a viscoelastic SAS‑TEC back protector, derived from motorcycle and ski protection, which distributes point loads – for example from stones or gear in the storage compartment – over a larger surface to reduce injury risk.

Particular attention is paid to rescue deployment. The ergonomically optimised parachute container has been tested in‑house with a wide range of deployment directions and even under high g‑forces on a G‑Force Trainer. In practice this means that, whatever the flight attitude and turbulence, the reserve should be easy to extract and reliably deploy.

Comfort, control and intuitive use

Ergonomics in the air and on the ground

The harness geometry, combined with a honeycomb seat plate, offers precise weight‑shift control and direct feedback during dynamic manoeuvres, yet remains pleasantly damped and stable. The Air Mesh backrest with a central ventilation channel supports the spine while allowing air circulation, helping to keep pilots comfortable on long flights. Leg loop construction and additional padding ensure good freedom of movement during take‑off, landing and groundhandling.

Smart details for everyday flying

In day‑to‑day use, the VENTUS stands out with a series of well thought‑out details. The rear storage compartment can accommodate a hydration bladder, with a dedicated routing for the drinking tube along the shoulder straps; an auto‑lock zip prevents accidental opening in flight. A removable radio pocket can be positioned in two locations, and zipped side pockets provide space for essentials like a phone, camera or first‑aid kit.

Colour‑coded buckles (green right, red left, black central) mirror NOVA’s riser colour scheme and make pre‑flight checks more intuitive – particularly useful for students. The T‑Lock buckle system increases safety by preventing a pilot from falling out if leg loops were inadvertently left open. Extensive on‑ground and in‑flight adjustment of seat angle, shoulder and chest straps enables both upright and slightly reclined positions.

Target group, sizes and certification

With only three sizes (S, M, L), the VENTUS covers a wide span of pilot heights: S for shorter pilots, L for very tall ones, and M for the broad middle range. This makes it especially attractive for paragliding schools that need simple sizing, but also for experienced pilots seeking a versatile, safe “do‑it‑all” harness. Officially certified to DHV GS‑03‑0391‑18 with a maximum clip‑in weight of 120 kg (LTF) and an energy absorption value of 33 g, it meets the standards expected in its class. Although NOVA currently lists it as a discontinued model available only while stocks last, it remains a technically advanced and highly relevant choice wherever it is still on offer.

Colours, materials and positioning

The VENTUS is supplied in a fresh Skyblue colourway that underlines its sporty character. The outer and inner shells are made from robust Nylon Ripstop, while key load‑bearing elements use polyamide and Dyneema webbing, combined with NOVA‑branded EDELRID Alias 2 carabiners and aluminium T‑Lock buckles. Overall, the harness positions itself as a dependable, comfortable and visually appealing solution for pilots who value a mix of safety innovation, everyday usability and clean design.
