The NOVA VORTEX is a new benchmark in the EN C two-liner class: an ultralight cross-country wing that combines real-world performance with remarkably low pilot workload and easy handling, especially attractive for hike-and-fly and ambitious XC pilots coming from high-B gliders.
Ultralight two-liner with real XC focus
With 65 cells, a flat aspect ratio of 6.1 and weight from only 3.1 kg in size XXXS, the VORTEX delivers high efficiency on long glides while remaining compact and easy to carry. Reduced line drag from its two-liner design supports higher usable speed, stability in active air and precise B-steering – exactly what experienced XC pilots demand on big days.
Performance meets simplicity in thermals
NOVA has tuned the VORTEX for effortless climbing: the wing bites into weak lift, allows flat, low-sink turns and still centres confidently in tight, strong cores. The result is a glider that extracts performance from marginal conditions yet stays composed when conditions turn sporty, giving pilots the confidence to stay on bar and cover distance.
Efficient, modern B-control system
The redesigned B-control system is the most direct NOVA has produced to date. Even millimetre-small inputs translate into precise course corrections and effective pitch control. Height-Adjustable B-Handles (HAB-handles), known from the XENON, use carbon construction and five height positions to match different pilot sizes and harness geometries, enabling relaxed but accurate rear-riser control on accelerated glide.
Thoughtful construction and materials
The ultralight concept is carried through every detail: Dominico 10D and 20D cloth, Porcher Skytex 27 profiles, and slim Kevlar 7 mm risers keep weight to a minimum without compromising robustness. Nitinol rods in the leading edge maintain an optimal aerofoil shape, resist bending when packed and allow the wing to fit into smaller volumes. The VORTEX is supplied with the Concertina Bag Light but can also be packed in a classic inner bag when needed.
Target group and pilot demands
Certified EN C / LTF D, the VORTEX is aimed at experienced XC pilots with solid high-B or C-class mileage who want to step into the two-liner world without the intimidation of a full-on D racing wing. The comparatively moderate aspect ratio and forgiving behaviour in manoeuvres offer a reassuring safety margin, while still providing the speed, glide and efficiency expected from a modern performance two-liner.
Colours, sizes and delivery scope
Available in multiple colourways (including a new Orange) and sizes from XXXS to M, the VORTEX covers certified take-off weights from 55 to 115 kg, with clearly defined recommended ranges for optimal handling and performance. Scope of delivery includes the ultralight concertina bag, windsock, colour-matched repair kit and detailed manual, underpinned by NOVA’s established service and warranty ecosystem.
