The NOVA MENTOR 7 Light is a new-generation EN/LTF B cross-country wing that transfers cutting-edge two-liner technology into a lightweight “hybrid 2.5-liner” concept. With 66 cells, a moderate aspect ratio of 5.5 and weights starting from just 3.65 kg, it is targeted at experienced EN B pilots who want maximum XC performance in a compact, hiking-friendly package.
Hybrid design with real-world performance
The defining feature of the MENTOR 7 Light is its hybrid layout: a 2‑liner structure at the tips and a 3‑liner centre section. This reduces overall line length, cuts drag and allows a more efficient wing twist when accelerated. The result is a remarkably fast, pitch-stable wing that retains the forgiving character and safety typical of the MENTOR series, while clearly raising the performance bar in the B class.
Lightweight, durable construction
NOVA combines Skytex 27 lightweight cloth with Skytex 38 on the leading edge and robust line materials to achieve the “as light as possible, as solid as necessary” balance. The complex internal structure and rods support the wing’s shape at speed, but demand more careful packing. NOVA therefore recommends folding with the supplied pack roll or Concertina Bag Light to preserve the rod geometry and line organisation.
Optimised for fast XC flying
Fully accelerated, the MENTOR 7 Light remains calm and highly efficient, cutting through unstable air with an “actually usable performance” that has already proven itself in competition and big XC flights. Compared to the MENTOR 6, pilots can expect higher top speed, improved glide in turbulence and even gentler behaviour in accelerated collapses, giving more comfort on long, demanding days in the air.
Innovative risers and C-steering
The Speedbrake Riser 2.0 introduces HAC (Height Adjustable C‑Handles), bringing genuine two-liner-style pitch control to the EN B segment. In accelerated flight the pilot can efficiently control angle of attack via the rear risers, minimising pitch, reducing sink and saving energy over many hours of XC. A “Baby‑B” on the B3 line further refines the load distribution, while the C‑lines remain powerful tools for killing the wing during groundhandling.
Pilot profile and handling
Despite its advanced technology, the MENTOR 7 Light is positioned as a “teacher” for ambitious XC pilots already comfortable on EN B wings. Inflation is predictable without strong overshooting tendencies, and the overall handling is described as pleasant and energy-saving rather than demanding. However, pilots must understand the hybrid concept: B3 stall techniques are more effective than classic big ears, and learning modern C‑steering is key to unlocking the full potential of this XC machine.
Colours, sizes and practical details
Available in sizes XXS to L, the MENTOR 7 Light covers certified take-off weights from 68 to 130 kg, with clearly defined recommended ranges for optimal behaviour. Four standard colourways (Red, Lime, Gold and Blue) are offered, complemented by an online colour configurator for custom designs. Buyers can choose between a lightweight concertina bag or rucksack in the scope of delivery, aligning the package with either hike & fly or everyday XC use.
