LHOTSE X: a new generation mid-B hybrid
Based on the successful KIBO X platform, the LHOTSE X opens the 2.5‑liner world to pilots in the mid‑B segment. The hybrid design combines the passive safety of a classic three‑liner with the glide and speed of a modern two‑liner. With 51 cells, a flat aspect ratio of 5.6 and reduced line consumption, the wing is optimised for efficiency without sacrificing forgiveness.
Lightweight construction, compact packing
Porcher Skytex 27/32 cloth, unsheathed aramid and Dyneema lines, and optional Light Weight Risers keep the canopy extremely light, supporting demanding hike & fly projects and long journeys. In size XS the wing weighs only 2.7 kg with light risers, and even the largest size M stays at just 3.5 kg. Paired with the dedicated CompressSmart packsack, the LHOTSE X fits easily into minimalist hike & fly or travel setups.
Handling and in-flight behaviour
In the air, the LHOTSE X is agile, pitch‑stable and remarkably easy to launch and control. Brake pressure is moderate for relaxed long thermal sessions, and the wing has been thoroughly tested in a broad range of conditions. The optimised airfoils, double and negative 3D shaping, mini‑ribs and front section support rods all work together to keep the profile clean and efficient, even at bar.
C-steering and speed for modern XC flying
The integrated High Performance Risers enable intuitive C‑steering during accelerated flight, derived from UP’s higher performance two‑liners and C‑class wings. This allows pilots to maintain an undistorted airfoil shape while actively controlling pitch and roll, reducing pilot fatigue on long transitions. Valley crossings and headwind legs become more manageable thanks to a high usable top speed for the class.
Target pilot and size range
The LHOTSE X is designed for ambitious A‑class pilots stepping into B, and for experienced XC pilots looking for a very capable yet compact lightweight wing. Its manageable extreme flight behaviour and generous safety reserves make it suitable as an all‑rounder for local thermalling, vol‑biv and big alpine distance flights. Available in four sizes from XS (60–78 kg) to M (90–115 kg), the wing is best flown in the middle of the recommended weight range for balanced feedback and comfort.
