The UP KIBO X is the first 2.5‑liner introduced into the mid‑B segment, aiming to bridge the gap between relaxed everyday flying and seriously capable cross‑country performance. Certified EN/LTF B, it combines hybrid‑wing top speed with the passive safety and comfort that progressing pilots and frequent flyers demand.
Balanced performance and safety
With its 2.5‑line concept, the KIBO X transfers technology previously reserved for high‑B wings into a more accessible class. Reduced line drag and a 5.6 flat aspect ratio deliver an impressive glide and top speed, while the wing still behaves like a true intermediate in terms of forgiveness and stability. Pitch damping is particularly well refined, helping the glider remain composed in turbulent air and during accelerated flight.
Modern handling: HPR risers and “C” steering
New High Performance Risers (HPR) with rear‑riser steering allow efficient bar use and precise control of the angle of attack, similar to modern two‑liners. Pilots can actively manage the wing on speed bar without deforming the profile, which both preserves performance and reduces pilot fatigue on long glides. The overall handling is agile yet not nervous, making thermalling intuitive and efficient.
Target pilot and typical use
The KIBO X is designed for pilots stepping up from A‑class wings who want to expand into XC, as well as for safety‑conscious B‑pilots who fly frequently in real‑world conditions. Launch behaviour is easy and predictable, and once airborne the wing converts thermals into height with enthusiasm, suiting everything from local soaring to ambitious routes in the flats or the mountains.
Sizes, weights and materials
Available in five sizes from XS to L, the KIBO X covers all‑up weights from 60 to 130 kg. UP recommends flying in the middle of the certified range for the most balanced behaviour, with higher loading adding dynamic energy for experienced pilots. The canopy uses robust Dominico and Porcher Skytex fabrics, supported by rods in the leading edge, Double and Negative 3D panel shaping, mini‑ribs and an optimised line layout to maximise stability, lifespan and performance.
Colours, customization and package
Three serial colour schemes are offered, and UP’s online colour customizer gives pilots the option to design their own scheme. Delivery includes a Flex Bag, riser bag, compression strap, repair kit, e‑manual and a small UP gift, so the wing is ready for regular use right out of the box.
