Falco: a new EN-A era for fun and safety
ICARO Falco EN-A paraglider: modern Shark-Nose wing that blends high passive safety, strong performance and easy handling for beginners and leisure pilots.

Falco: a new EN-A era for fun and safety

The ICARO Falco opens a new chapter in the EN-A class, combining the brand’s latest design technologies into a glider that is unusually performant for its certification level, yet remarkably easy to manage from the first inflation to the last flare.

Falco in the EN-A landscape

EN-A performance with a reassuring character

Positioned as a “new era within the EN-A segment”, the Falco is aimed at pilots who want maximum passive safety without sacrificing real-world XC and soaring potential. With its very damped roll and pitch behaviour, beginners and low-airtime pilots get a wing that filters turbulence, but still transmits enough feedback to read the air and progress with confidence.

At the same time, the glider’s glide ratio and usable speed range stand out in its class. The Falco remains rock solid even at full speed bar, which invites longer transitions and efficient upwind legs, traditionally considered the domain of higher-rated wings.

Who the Falco is designed for

From first thermals to relaxed cross-country

ICARO clearly targets a wide spectrum of EN-A pilots: from talented students in training to experienced leisure and “come-back” pilots who prioritise fun, security and ease of use. Excellent take-off and landing manners, intuitive canopy control and forgiving reactions to pilot input make the Falco a particularly attractive first wing, and a stress-free companion for pilots who only fly a few times per month.

Key behaviour parameters such as starting and landing properties, stability, passive safety, thermal ability, glide, handling, feedback, agility and dynamics are all tuned to provide a smooth, confidence-inspiring ride, while still allowing tight, flat turns and efficient climbing in weak or broken lift.

Key technologies and construction

Modern features for everyday pilots

Technically, the Falco integrates a modern Shark-Nose profile, a light material mix and a clean line setup with only two main lines per level. This reduces drag, simplifies ground handling and improves inflation in both strong and marginal wind. The wing uses Dokdo 20/30 cloth, 38 cells and a 2‑cell-bridge V-tape structure to maintain shape and durability over time.

Additional leading-edge mini ribs sharpen the nose and give the Falco an impressive glide for its category, particularly noticeable when accelerated. Across all four sizes (XS, S, M, L) the flat aspect ratio of 5.2 and projected aspect ratio of 3.71 provide a balanced compromise between efficiency and docile behaviour.

Comfort, look and delivery

Distinctive style, complete package

Like all ICARO gliders, the Falco carries a distinctive fragment of the Edelweiss logo in its sail design, ensuring a recognisable silhouette in the sky. It is offered in two colour combinations, underlining its “fun wing” character without losing a professional, technical appearance on the hill and at the landing field.

The scope of delivery includes the glider, packing belt, inner bag, riser bag, repair kit and backpack, so new pilots receive a ready-to-fly package without needing extensive additional gear right away.

Falco in practice and how to get it
