The BGD Epic 2 is a modern EN/LTF-B paraglider created to make “la dolce vita” in the air a daily reality: very high passive safety, playful handling and performance that takes you from local soaring to confident first cross-country flights and even initial freestyle moves.
Epic 2: a versatile low-B for real flying life
The Epic 2 is designed as a safe, reassuring wing for low‑airtime and progressing pilots, yet its direct handling and solid performance will also satisfy experienced recreational flyers. Launch behaviour has been refined: the canopy rises smoothly, centres well and resists overshooting, making forward and reverse inflations relaxed even in stronger breezes.
Performance with comfort and feedback
In the air the Epic 2 is slightly faster than its predecessor, offering around 39 km/h trim and up to 53 km/h accelerated, combined with a best glide of 9.5. The wing climbs efficiently, especially in weak lift, while long brake travel and precise response deliver playful turns without surprising stalls or spins. Importantly, the canopy communicates turbulence instead of muting it, helping pilots read the air and anticipate collapses.
Technology from higher classes
BGD has equipped the Epic 2 with a B/C speed-steering system on redesigned risers, allowing effective pitch and direction control while on bar. The 45-cell structure, 5.2 flat aspect ratio and integrated line layout reduce drag and weight, while Chord Cut Billow, multi-reefing brakes, multi-plastics, triple-finger diagonals and single-shark plastic leading edge all work together to stabilise the profile, sharpen handling and keep the sail clean and wrinkle-free.
Target pilots and available sizes
Certified EN/LTF-B, the Epic 2 covers a broad audience: it is ideal as a first low‑B after school, a comfortable weekend XC wing or a fun platform for learning SATs, wingovers and heli attempts under supervision. Five sizes (XS, S, M, ML, L) span certified weight ranges from 55 to 125 kg, with glider weights from 4.4 to 5.4 kg, making it suitable for a wide spectrum of pilots and equipment setups.
Construction and package
The canopy uses proven Porcher Skytex and Eazyfly fabrics for the top, bottom and internal structure, reinforced with plastic rods of varying stiffness in the nose. Kevlar/nylon risers, Magix Pro Dry lines and quality hardware round off a robust yet light package. Each Epic 2 is supplied with paraglider, compression strap, riser bag, inner bag, rucksack, repair cloth, stickers, a small BGD gift and a manual card.
